Carr Fire Incident Update 8.6.18 7:00 PM

Ki9:34 AM A message from Trinity County Office of Emergency Services:
During this mornings briefing is was reported that dozer lines on the west side of the Carr Fire near Lewiston are holding and fire crews in the area are growing confident that Lewiston is no longer threatened by the Carr Fire at this time. There are still many fire crews and fire equipment in the area of Lewiston and the fire is still actively burning to the north. Repopulation of Lewiston remains a priority and will be put into place as soon as fire crews deem the area safe. Trinity County OES wants to thank everyone for their patience throughout this time, and we look forward to seeing lives return to normal here in Trinity County.

Carr Fire Update 8.1.18

Update: July 31, 2018

Press Release

Carr Fire Update 7.31.18

Update: July 29, 2018

The fire line kept the fire from advancing into Trinity County last night, though it is still active on the Shasta side of Buckhorn Summit. It has also crested Shasta Bally, but has not made its way into Trinity County.

Update: July 28, 2018

CodeRED message. A codeRED message was sent out this afternoon to announce mandatory evacuations for residents east of Trinity Dam Boulevard from Trinity Dam to Bully Shoop.

The mandatory evacuation is ONLY for those residents east of Trinity Dam Boulevard. Lewiston residents west of the Trinity Dam Boulevard are only in an advisory status. This means individuals should plan and be ready to evacuate if the order comes, but it is not a mandatory evacuation at this time.

Update - July 28, 2018

Power was restored around 1 am this morning. The Carr Fire grew yet again, pushing to the western edge of Redding before turning southward. There have been two flare-ups since yesterday one again in French Gulch and the other where it jumped across the west side of Whiskeytown Lake and up Shasta Bally moving south and southeast. CalFIRE reports they likely have the French Gulch aspect contained, but not 100%, so we need to keep a watchful eye out for spot fires. The fire up Shasta Bally crested over and is slowly creeping into the drainage. The fire is still not in Trinity County, but we are watching both areas closely in the event of evacuation orders are needed.

Update - July 27, 2018

The Carr Fire grew again overnight, not it is at 40k+ acres. Fire is active moving toward Redding, forcing evacuations and burning structures. Highway 299 is still closed. Trinity County power which was moved from Keswick and Carr to Lewiston, dropped out this afternoon around 215 pm. This complicates things, but please everyone keep on the lookout for plumes. We don't know which direction the wind might push the fire and we all need to be very careful still with any source of flame within the county. Sent a CodeRED message to Lewiston, Douglas City and Weaverville after hearing a rumor power might be out for two months. TPUD is working diligently to get power restored and it certainly will not be 2 months. Lewiston and Douglas City residents will be notified if there is a need to evacuate. Currently we are just monitoring the situation.

Update - July 26, 2018

The Carr Fire grew to over 20k acres overnight, pushing to the east and jumping over Highway 299 to scorch boats at the Oak Bottom docks. Though the west side of the fire, that nearest the Trinity County line is in control, there are reports of heavy spotting and winds resulting in multiple evacuations and closures eastward and moving toward Redding. Highway 299 is hard closed and everyone is urged to remain vigilant for smoke plumes.

Update - July 25, 2018

The Carr fire is at 4,500 acres this morning and 24% contained. We still have displaced families in the shelter at Weaverville Elementary as Highway 299 is still closed.

Update - July 24, 2018

The shelter at Weaverville Elementary provided 17 people a place to sleep last night, a lot more slept in vehicles outside due to not wanting to be separated from their pets. This morning 65 meals were served. Highway 299 remains closed at the Trinity/Shasta County line at Buckhorn Mountain.

Update - July 23, 2018 at 1645

An evacuation shelter for those evacuated due to the Carr Fire in Shasta County has been set up at Trinity High School, located at 321 Victoria Ln, Weaverville, CA 96093.
