The Department of Information Technology has a staff of 4 permanent employees. The staff operates and maintains the county-wide computer network consisting of over 40 Servers and approximately 350 workstations. This includes responsibility for database administration, wireless networks, application development, and the county's digital phone systems.

Services offered to all county departments:
E-Mail:
IT coordinates the administration of the County's e-mail system. The e-mail application includes: electronic mail, messaging, and personal/group calendar functionality. The County's e-mail system also interfaces with the Internet to provide remote e-mail access to all employees.
Database Programming/Support:
IT staff are currently developing and supporting various database applications including an Integrated Criminal Justice system, Payroll, Property Management, Recorder's Imaging System, Intranet, etc.
Wide Area Network:
Information Technology maintains the County Campus Type Area Network which services County offices within the Weaverville basin. County Departments located outside of the County Court House are connected to the network utilizing fiber, ADSL, and wireless technology.
County-wide digital / VOIP phone systems:
Plan, implement, and maintain multiple phone systems for all departments throughout the County.
Virtual Environment:
The county has implemented green technology by establishing a virtual environment which runs multiple virtual servers using a minimal number of physical machines.
