Health care
- All veterans with a service connected disability rating are eligible for VA health care
- Veterans who did not receive a dishonorable discharge and who meet the following criteria are also eligible:
- Served on federal active duty (not for training) for 24 continuous months or the full period for which called to active duty, or
- Were discharged for a disability that was caused or made worse by activie duty service
AND
- Served in Southwest Asia during the Gulf War, 08/02/1990 - 11/11/1998, or
- Served at least 30 days in Camp Lejeune, 08/01/1953 - 12/31/1987, or
- Received the Medal of Honor or Purple Heart, or were a POW, or
- Meet income limits, or
- Served in a theater of combat operations after 11/11/1998, and were discharged from active duty on or after 11/29/2003
Presumptive Conditions for Particulate Matter/Burn Pits
Veterans who served in one of the locations listed in the table above and who have been diagnosed with one of the following conditions are likely eligible for service connected disability compensation;
- Asthma diagnosed after service
- Chronic bronchitis
- COPD
- Chronic rhinitis
- Chronic sinusitis
- Constrictive bronchiolitis or obliterative bronchiolitis
- Emphysema
- Granulomatous disease
- Interstitial lung disease
- Pleuritis
- Pulmonary fibrosis
- Sarcoidosis
- Cancer
- Brain
- Gastrointestinal
- Glioblastoma (primary and secondary)
- Head
- Kidney
- Lymphatic
- Melanoma
- Neck
- Pancreatic
- Reproductive
- Respiratory
