Trinity County Board of Supervisors Adopts Resolution to Establish Sister City Relationship with Weaverville, North Carolina

Human Response Network to Establish Fundraising Initiative

Weaverville, CA (October 16, 2024) – On Tuesday, the Trinity County Board of Supervisors proudly adopted a Resolution to establish a sister city relationship between Weaverville, California, and Weaverville, North Carolina.  This connection highlights the commonalities between both towns, and reinforces the values of community and support during challenging times.

Weaverville, North Carolina, located in Asheville-Buncombe County, recently experienced significant devastation as a result of Hurricane Helene.  Known for its proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway and home to a wealth of natural beauty, including hiking trails, cycling routes, and scenic drives, Weaverville, NC, has faced the impacts of natural disasters similar to those Trinity County has endured in recent years.

Both communities share striking similarities: from their picturesque settings in the Blue Ridge Mountains and Trinity Alps, to their strong sense of community.  The Resolution reflects the spirit of generosity that often arises after disaster strikes, encouraging mutual support and engagement.  Following the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, Trinity County leadership reached out to the Mayor of Weaverville, NC, offering support and proposing a formal sister city relationship.  The Mayor of Weaverville, NC, expressed deep appreciation for this gesture of solidarity.

"Our connection with Weaverville, North Carolina, reminds us that even in times of hardship, there is strength in unity,” said Supervisor Ric Leutwyler, Chair of the Trinity County Board of Supervisors.  “We look forward to deepening our relationship with Weaverville, NC, and finding ways to provide meaningful support to their community in both the short-term, and long-term."
