The Council of California County Law Librarians exists to strengthen, improve, promote, and advocate for the unique legal information services provided by county law libraries that support access to justice for all Californians. It serves California as the only statewide resource for easy access to self-help information on legal problems and referrals to local legal aid providers and pro bono assistance. California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation
CRLAF is a statewide non-profit organization providing legal services and policy advocacy for California’s rural poor. The Foundation engages in impact litigation, community education and outreach, legislative and administrative advocacy, and public policy leadership on the state and local levels in the areas of labor, housing, education, health, worker safety, pesticides, citizenship, immigration, and environmental justice.

Google Scholar
Google Scholar provides an easy, free way to search and read published opinions of the United States Supreme Court since 1791; US federal district, appellate, tax and bankruptcy courts since 1923; and state appellate and supreme court cases since 1950. Select the “Case Law” button under the Google Scholar search box. There is also separate search functionality for patent information and legal journals.

Justia, based in Silicon Valley, was created with the mission to “advance the availability of legal resources for the benefit of society.” The site provides free access to case law, codes, regulations, legal articles and legal blog databases. The company also publishes a variety of free newsletters, including daily opinion summaries for all Federal Appellate and State Supreme Courts and weekly opinion summaries on a wide range of practice areas, essentially from ‘A’ (Agriculture Law) to ‘Z’ (Zoning and Land Use).

Legal Information Institute, Cornell University Law School
GetLegal in partnership with the Legal Information Institute Center at Cornell Law School provides access to U.S. federal materials including the full text of the U.S. Code and opinions of the U.S. Supreme Court, court rules, CFR and additional federal materials. The site also offers quick links to the current authoritative versions of the state statutes, constitution, regulations and court rules.

Legal Services of Northern California
Legal Services of Northern California serves clients in 23 counties including Trinity. It has four legal workers and three support staff. The organization has a multi-dimensional service delivery system which employs the efficiencies of telephone hotlines, self-help advocacy through counseling, clinics, pro se materials, and community legal education, in addition to direct representation both in court and at administrative hearings. LSNC engages in creative collaborations with other legal services programs, community organizations, and government agencies, including court-based in pro per assistance.
